on the Canal des Deux-Mers is an invitation to merriment.
Along
the Canal, the century old trees offer a beneficial shade during
the sunny hot summer days.
In a hymn to slowness, sailing along
the canal allows the discovery of lovely historical towns.
Up to the eighties the canal's initial
vocation was the transport of goods between the Atlantic and
the Mediterranean. Today waterways tourism attracts many visitors
from abroad and is part of the tourism industry economy.
Choice
of boats :
- Personal craft crossing the canal to reach the ocean to the
sea or vice-versa.
- Old transport barges converted into floating appartment or
luxurious rooms.

BARGES-HOTEL
Old transport
barges converted into floating hotel. Accomodation for 6 to
10 passengers . with private bathroom, roomy bedrooms, sundecks
and reading room. A sure way to enjoy a lovely cruise.
Price range from 1 067 € to 3 895 € weekly.
Sports, visits, wine tasting, gourmet degustations or a chef
on board can be included.
RENTal BOATS
A
total of 600 rental boats without a permit navigate on the Canal
des Deux- Mers.
They don't need any permit and anybody with a driving licence
can rent them.Their handling and daily maintenance are easy.
Generally rental is for a week or more and the accomodation
is for 2 to 12 passengers. Booking has to be made minimum 10
weeks ahead of your departure.In low season rental for week-end
and 3 to 4 days trips are possible.On board the accomodations
are comfortable and well equipped. Sheets and bedding are provided,
towels and linen are not.
Moor up... take a walk or a bycicle
ride to a chateau, a lovely village, an exhibition or a bal...
Meals and food shopping are not included
in the deal.
BARGES hostel house
These barges are for most
of them old transport barges converted into cozy and warm living
where owners receive guests at demands.Maximum two to four comfortable
bedrooms are for the guests disposal. In a pleasant atmosphere
your hosts will take you on a journey along the Canal, giving
you the best of their knowledge and good humour.
BARGE RESTAURANTS
More
and more of these boats are being seen on the Canal. They stay
embarked in the outskirt of town. They are open during lunch
and dinner hours.They will take you on a 8 to 15 km cruise while
you enjoy your meal. Boarding is at fix hours. The pleasure
of gastronomy blend with the discovering of the Canal's banks.
