Castelsarrasin

The origin of the name is still not sure, but we do know the castle was built for a man called Sarrazus.

Castelsarrasin, with many amenities along the canal, has invested in making the town as pleasant as possible for tourists. The town has won the first prize many times in the French " ville fleurie " contest, and the canal's Nature area is a sight for sore eyes.

Visit the Saint Sauveur church with it's baroque furniture, the old houses and fortification ruins.
Its worth going outside the town to see Belleperche Abbey. It has recently been renovated and its stalls and statues are remarkable. The view from the Abbey, over-looking the Garonne river, is outstanding

In the Nord, at the Bastide du Temple birds and nature lovers will have some good times at the Domaine de Gazania
