Meilhan sur Garonne

The very old trees of the Halte nautique provide shaded moorings at this green and charming town.

The Place du Tertre is a National Heritage monument from which you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Canal des Deux Mers and the Garonne river. Here you will also find an excellent restaurant.

An exact replica of an old wooden postal barge takes visitors for a cruise.

At the canal's Pinayne bridge there is a monument as a reminder of the only accident of a petrol barge on the canal. The careless crew of the empty " Elf Jaune " petrol barge caused an explosion killing them all. Although a barge with a full load of petrol cannot explode, nor can it explode when empty if simple safety precautions are taken, there are no longer any petrol barges on the canal.

On a ancient vineyard, the  School of Tersac. housed in a XIX century masonry along the Canal des Deux Mers is a famous school in Meilhan sur Garonne. For more than 25 years, this british influence boarding school received expatriated students, comming from all over the world. In partnership with the 1998-1999 french winners Girondins soccer club the School of Tersac propose some Football-Studys courses.
